The UK has always had a special affection for all things Motown. From the label’s very conception it attracted fans, but over the years that fan base grew into something very different, into one that could now best be described as fanatic.
There are two streams of Motown fans, one that loves and knows all the greatest hits of the star-studded line-up of artists; they never tire of hearing ‘Baby Love’ or ‘Reach Out I’ll Be There’. Then there are those that are considered true aficionados, those that devour every little bit of information about the label, its artists and its recording history. They are able to reel off the catalogue numbers at will to every UK or US 45 release or album, these fanatics have kept the name of Motown in the forefront for well over forty years.
